Gotta say this is humorous, Alice.
When a woman would sashay past a bunch of soldiers with her hips a-swaying and her buns-n-jugs-a-jumping in a tight outfit topped off with a come-hither look in her eye---and complain when she got cat-calls: "You buncha bums! Don't you even know how to treat a lady?"

by snowbird ini've noticed several posters who exhort others to be nice or play nice.. here in the south, being nice is simply about being.. is that how it is with you?.

When was the last time somebody proved you wrong and you admitted it?
by Terry inintellectual honesty and personal integrity depend on a fine point.
can you accept being wrong and admit it?.
nobody wants to be wrong because we have to trust your view of things to survive and prosper.

Thanks for explaining that. Do you mind saying which ones you think give the most bang-for-the-buck? Some times it seems like even a little money can help in a big way. Maeve

My Grandfather.
by The Finger inmy grandfather fought in the first ww.
he was in the trenches in france, he was gased and survived we always thought of him as one of the "generation" when we were kids.
he lived to almost 90, died in 1979.. he was always against the "truth" he mocked, he referred to my parents, his son, as a bible basher/thumper ect.

You are a brave soul to open this topic.
I have wondered what would happen if someone on this board asked if others had seen such things themselves. I think it is good to be slow to jump to conclusions very quickly even when we can see definite events that follow one another closely in time.
It is a good subject to bring up. Now hold on to your hat, finger!

Thanks chick pea.
If you noticemy regular posts you understand how hard it is for me to say anything in less than 250 words. I was up half a night doing it. There are so many ways to approach this matter that it was hard to pick one and pack it into one small pill.
I hope there continues to be echoes of the wrongs that this religion perpetrates in the name of "Truth".

I won't deny the admirable acts of the WWII Witnesses. But they were known by the Nazis as Bible Students--and I think itis important to think about this.
The R&F undergoing Nazi persecution were the fresher less institutionalized International Bible Students. All their sense of self-determined faith was heart-felt.Rutherford had not completely eradicated the individual response that Bible Students had to the Bible itself, to jesus and Jehovah. Now there is none of this freedom to answer to God alone--members are baptised into a relationship with an organization.
The Society takes credit for the past actions of faith that they no longer allow to flourish at all.
Hitler has the last laugh on the WTS.

Yes, jdhf,
it would be amazing if x-JWs everywhere spoke up--at the very least the echoes of this information would meet them at the doors they knocked on , even if they never read a paper themselves!
One of the horrors of this organization is that they have so many of x-JWs family members hostage. I am not to judge them if they are reluctant to draw fire on themselves--It happens that my own family members are all out.
But there is something about a thing coming out in broad daylight that hits you in a different way.
My oldest son, when he heard the paper intended printing it asked to read my copy of COC and is past page 200--this lad never let me talk to him about religion once he got old enough to raise an objection. My family has some healing to do too.
We do need to set the medicine of truth out as much as possible, little pills that don't look like they can do much. But if it can at least get in their heads a little bit, maybe they will get well enough to leave.
All the best--the best tribute to Ray would be to-----carry on!

It left its mark, for sure. One daughter who felt the brunt of it, it really hurt her the way onre elder spoke to her when she expressed a doubt. He came down on her so hard it probably sent her out sooner than if he had been kind. So I should be glad, I guess. But she said it took her 15 years before she could pray.
I hate that.
Actually, it would take a long time to figure it all out and write it down. It's like an alcoholic gets dried, Everyone is happy and we are going to take it from here--but there are residual effects.
I'm just glad we are alive and all out. We can help each other go on.
